Well, the changes have begun. Nothing major, mostly demolition work. The dated paneling, studs and awful drop ceiling have been removed. Our next step is to seal the concrete block foundation walls. We'll be using a product called Dri-Loc.
So far the demolition is the easy part. We still have many decisions to make about the flooring, whether we want to put in a new drop ceiling or drywall it and before the ceiling can be done we have to decide on overhead lighting. I'm leaning toward a drywall ceiling and recessed lighting.
The basement's purpose has been decided. It will become a recreation/guestroom. I'm hoping we get this right the first time around because I miss being able to send the kids to the basement to watch television.
But, before we can even start on the ceiling, lighting and walls, we have to seal the walls and re-measure the basement to make our scale drawings. Stay tuned for the scale drawings and progress reports. I'll share the good, the bad and the ugly! Back |
